In a stroke of genius, KFC found a way to tap into Canadian basketball culture without being an official sponsor - by leveraging their iconic buckets! Canadians have long enjoyed KFC meals shared out of their signature buckets, so it was only natural to use them to rally basketball fans around the brand. And what better way to do that than with the KFCourt, the world's first winterized basketball court? The court was located under one of Canada's busiest highways, at The Bentway, and featured a regulation-size playable chicken bucket for players to shoot hoops into. Not only could fans enjoy some pickup games or pick up some skills from local hoopers and pro players, but they could also indulge in some delicious fried chicken. In addition to the activation, a thrilling KFC Super Bowl spot at the KFCourt, uniting professional basketball players from the Scarborough shooting stars to showcase the slogan "Buckets are life," accompanied by a catchy campaign-specific song. Because nothing stands in the way of Canadians and their love of buckets - be they filled with chicken or basketballs!
